The City of Johannesburg Property Company has initiated the process of the development of the remainder of Erf 575 Sandown guided by this framework in order to unlock the massive development opportunity created by the Gautrain. The site is bordered by West Street, Fifth Street, Rivonia Road, and Nelson Mandela Square and the development incorporates the Sandton Gautrain Rapid Rail Station. This project is guided by the Urban development framework for Sandton and has incorporated findings based on Space Syntax.
Phase 1 of the Development includes a Public Transport Interchange facility, the Gautrain Station, as well as three levels of parking, for Gautrain patrons only. Phase 2 of the development comprises an extension of the basement parking (1600 parking bays) and the Public Transport Interchange Facility, a public square, a 2000 sq. metre art museum as well as +- 150 000 sq. metre mixed-use development over and adjacent to the Phase 1.
